A Ukrainian folk choir · Brighton & Hove
Ukrainian Voices
Українські голоси
Carrying the songs of Ukraine — sung a cappella, with full hearts, by a choir of women far from home.
Who we are
Songs that keep a homeland close
Ukrainian Voices is an all-female community choir, born in Brighton & Hove in 2022. Many of us came to England after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Singing together is how we hold on to home — and how we share its beauty with the city that took us in.
We sing a cappella: just voices, woven into the close harmonies that Ukrainian folk singing is loved for. From village ritual songs to tender ballads, every piece carries a piece of Ukraine with it.
Our music
What we sing
-
Folk songs
The traditional songs of Ukraine's villages and regions — harvest, love and home — passed down through generations and sung in rich harmony.
-
Ritual & folklore
Seasonal and ceremonial songs, such as the midsummer Rusalii — ancient music of water, nature and the feminine, brought back to life on stage.
-
Ballads & modern
Heartfelt ballads and contemporary Ukrainian pieces — the songs that speak to today, alongside the ones that remember.
